LocalSend

WindowsMac

Send a file across your desk, not around the internet.

LocalSend transfers files between devices on your local network. It is a useful bridge when your desk includes both Windows and Mac, and you would rather send a file directly than upload it to cloud storage.

Who it is for

People moving files between nearby computers or phones on the same trusted network.

What stands out

  • Works across Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS.
  • Local transfers do not require a cloud account.
  • The project publishes its source code.

Before you install

  • Both devices need LocalSend and a network that allows them to communicate. Guest Wi-Fi or firewall rules may block discovery.
  • Local transfer is not the same as a shared folder that continuously synchronizes.
  • The Windows edition is not currently included in our Microsoft Store directory because its former store link is unavailable.

Price & availability

Free on the Mac App Store. For Windows, use the official developer download page: the former Microsoft Store listing was unavailable when checked. Official Linux and mobile downloads are also available.

Sources & verification

Official product information checked on October 18, 2026. This is a researched app profile, not a hands-on performance benchmark. Store prices and requirements can change.
